Ayia Thekla
Ayia Thekla is small quiet residential upmarket area yet it's on the main road which runs from Ayia Napa - Potomos. It offers such diversity from the a picturesque fishing refuge of Potomos with a Ventian watch-tower remains and Sotira with an array of Byzantine churches yet is on the fringe of Ayia Napa and Protaras offering the main tourist attractions.
Potamos has a small sandy beach with rocky inlets [ no sun beds] and the beach at Ayia thekla is sandy with sun beds, and a beach taverna. The sea is shallow but rocky in places.
Ayia Thekla is one of the locations tourists to this island may miss. The area is full of small coves , with either golden sandy beaches, or rocky pool areas. Excellent location for being near the main tourist areas of Ayia Napa, only a short drive away, or taxi ride. Buses do run frequently.
Ayia thekla has many new villas being built and seems to be a popular tourist area for quietness at night and easy access to Ayia napa. Depending on which end of Ayia Thekla you are, its between 4-8km from Ayia napa.
The largest waterpark in europe is in Ayia Thekla. This is open during the summer daily from 10am, and has a range of rides for all ages. There are several restaurants within the park, and other facilities. Next door to the waterpark are Go Carts.
