Larnaka, is a city on the southeast coast of Cyprus. Larnaca International Airport (the major international airport of Cyprus) is located in this city. Larnaca has a population approximately of 72,000 and is the island's second commercial and tourist port. Larnaca is well-known for its picturesque sea-front which includes rows of palm trees. Much of the activity is centred around the city promenade during the major festivals. The most important of these for the city of Larnaka is the Festival of the Flood, celebrated in early summer with a series of cultural events.

Larnaca has 2 beaches both sandy. Finikoudes is the main stretch with palm trees, cosmopolitan restaurants and cafe bars, shops and a large beach with sun loungers. Further down you will find Makenzie beach - a great spot for plane spotters as it lies at the side of the airport. Again you can find restaurants, sun loungers and cafes, and a large car park. Sundays are Cypriot family days and during the peak summer months both these beaches get packed.

As you leave the airport you may spot Hala Sultan Tekke, a mosque at the edge of the salt lakes, where during the winter months you can find the migratory birds including flamingos.

Larnaca town has some great shops including some from home, Dorothy perkins, Next, etc

Much of Larnaca accomodation will be in the form of apartments or hotels. Many stay in the Dekhelia area of Larnaca. Many who wish to be close to Larnaca and wish to hire a car stay in neighbouring Pervolia, Kiti or Mazatos.
